1. Samhain Publishing (probably my favorite e-book publisher) will be having a First Line Contest starting this Monday on their blog. Ultimate prize is an opportunity to submit your manuscript for publication in their 2008 schedule. The manuscript has to be minimum of 12,000 words. That’s like 2 days works for some of you bints. Click here for details and all the fine print.
2. Author Meljean Brook is running a fabu contest in promotion of her book Demon Moon coming out June 5th. Just post her letter to People Magazine on your own blog or leave a comment here to enter. Prizes are a copy of Demon Moon or a $25 Amazon gift certificate. I was greatly tempted to post the entry on my blog and enter. But since I have stated that I prefer not to read vampire romances unless it involves Spike and Buffy and hanging-from-the-chandeliers sex, I didnt think that was right. I am probably missing a great book. AAR and Rosario have already reviewed it and given it an A. I do adore Meljean’s online personality though and am waiting for her to write a book with her trademark humor. I think it will be gold. Meljean recently gave an account of her First Book Sale to DearAuthor.com and it’s the stuff that dreams are made of. When a well-respected editor like Cindy Hwang tracks you down, you must have scary mad skillz.
3. And last but not least, anyone who has written a book review knows that it aint all that easy. So my hat’s off to La Lola who can do it in rhyme. She has done it again with her inspired review of Lisa Kleypas’s Suddenly You . Anyone’s who has read the book knows that the review is dead-on. RipMyBodice.com is a fun blog if you’ve never hit it before.
