I was just doing my shopping list for upcoming books to buy in the next few months. I noticed that the cover and blurb for Madeline Hunter’s new book Secrets of Surrender (coming May 20th!) has been posted on Amazon. *fangurl squeal*
It’s pretty. It’s yellow. A primary color. Which is good. It looks like a cross between erotic historical covers like those for Cheryl Holt/Lisa Valdez and Eloisa James’s Desperate Duchesses:
However, this is the third book of a four book series and the composition doesnt look remotely like the first two books:
I hate when a publisher changes the cover look mid-series. Geez and i thought *I* had a short attention span. Eloisa James’s Essex Sisters Series is a prime example of this and I personally think it’s an eyesore. I am not a big keeper of books anyway but the fug of the last two covers tipped me from keeping any book in this series when I was on the fence about them:
Usually, I am really not at all anal about covers; if you ever see an elegant matron on the subway carrying a Hermes Kelly Bag reading the raunchiest bodice-ripper, chances are that would be me! But on this one thing, the symmetry lover in me is peeved.
So, what are your thoughts on this matter?
